EURO 2024 GROUP F RESULTS          Euro 2024's Group F consisted of Czechia, Georgia, Portugal and Turkey. Of course, Portugal topped the group with six points but Turkey was not far behind also accumulating six points. Surprisingly, the "dark horse" of the Tournament Georgia also qualified after a fantastic 2-0 win against Portugal and accumulating 4 points in total. Last but not least, came Czechia who only got one point in a draw with Georgia, what a disappointing run. So the teams for thr Round of 16 are already set. Tune in tomorrow for the final results! Euro 2024's Group E and all the craze around it

EURO 2024'S GROUP E AND ALL THE CRAZE AROUND IT          Group E in the Euros was undoubtably the most confusing of the six groups; from Romelu Lukaku's "VAR curse" to the standings themselves. All four teams accumulated four points  (a win, a draw and a loss) so the qualification was decided by goal difference. Top of the group came Romania after a 3-0 win against Ukraine which sealed the +1 Goal Difference mark. The same can be said for Belgium who also had a +1 Goal Difference but finished second due to a lack in goals scored compared to Romania's incredible 4 goals scored. Third, but also eligible for qualification was Slovakia with a goal difference of zero. Despite accumulating four points, Ukraine finished last because their goal difference was in the negatiges (-1 to be exact). It was indeed an unlucky run for Ukraine... Euro 2024 Group D and the Austrian success story

EURO 2024 GROUP D AND THE AUSTRIAN SUCCESS STORY          Group D of the Euros was an interesting one; it consisted of Austria, cometition favorites France,  The Netherlands with Liverpool's incredible centre-back Virgil van Dijk and Robert Lewadowski's Poland. Suprisingly, Austria topped the group with two wins and a 2-1 loss to France. Second in the group came France who had a slow start with two draws and a win against Austria, hence achieving a five-point margin. Third in the group but eligible for qualification were the Netherlands who won against Poland, drew with France and lost to Austria. Last in the group came Poland, who only managed to draw a game with France. It seems like something great is to come from the Austrian National Team this time around.                                               ...

Gareth Southgate's England and Group C

GARETH SOUTHGATE'S ENGLAND AND GROUP C          Many fans have considered Group C as the blandest group and it is probably Gareth Southgate to blame. Despite having the -on paper- best squad, with superstars like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden, England played an unattractive style of football by playing a five-at-the-back system that doesn't utilize wingers as much as it should have. Despite all those setbacks by Southgate's blunders in the tactical front, England topped the group, by getting 5 points, via a 1-0 win against Serbia and draws against Denmark and Slovenia. in second place came Denmark with 3 points after drwaing all three games. In third place, but also qualifying to the last sixteen was Slovenia who also drew all three games. In last place came Serbia with only 2 points. England may have advanced to the last sixteen but do they have what it takes to reach the final despite Southgate's errors? Yours truly, The Sidel...

Euro 2024 Group B results

Image
EURO 2024 GROUP B RESULTS          Continuing from we left off in the previous article, Group B also had an interesting ending. The group was topped by Spain who won all three games by a notable margin. It is also noteworthy that Spain featured the two prospects, Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams. Second in the group was last year's finalist Italy who accumulated 4 points in three games, winning against Albania, drwaing with Croatia and losing to Spain. In third place came Croatia with Luka Modric who had a disappointing run only drawing against Italy and Albania, hence disqualifying from the competition. In last place came underdogs Albania who only drew against Croatia, but broke many records and featured Chelsea's Armado Broja who played a crucial role in the three games. It was indeed a pretty tight group and after many disappointing runs in the competition, Spain prevailed. Yours truly, The Sideliners Team

Euro 2024 Group A action

EURO 2024 GROUP A ACTION       After 14 days of pure footbal, the group stage phase of the Euro 2024 competition is finally complete. So, here are the final results which have had many upsets: GROUP A :      Also known as the "Group of Death" was perhaps the tightest of all groups. Competion favourites Germany topped the group with 7 points (with wins against Scotland and Hungary and a last-minute draw against Switzerland). Second in the group was the underdog of the competion. It was Yakin's Switzerland with a 5 point margin after a great performance when facing Germany and  decent games against the other members of the group. The third place spot was claimed by the Hungarian national team who got three points in the group. But those points were inadequate as Hungary did not advance to the last 16. Last, but not least, Scotland finished last in the Group after a terrible presence in the group, getting only one point in a draw with Swi...
